Adbrite Set to Wind Up Due to Market Conditions and Financial Liabilities

ADBRITE WINDS UP BUSINESS

I tried so hard over the past few months to make appreciable earnings from Adbrite. Imagine my shock when I received this news by email from Adbite few days ago. It was all mixed feelings. Adbrite, which prides itself as "...an efficient, full-service ad exchange for display and video" is now planning to wind up its business.

In the email obviously sent to its publishers and advertiser networks, The adBrite Team notes that over the last few weeks, the ad company's management have "...been evaluating the go-forward plan for the business" but had to take a "difficult decision."

The email goes on to state thus,
"Given market conditions and certain financial liabilities, in working with our lenders, we have decided to cease operations on Feb 1, 2013."
It notes that it had to take this course of action "...despite the impact it will have on all the employees, clients and partners who helped build this business."

Although this decision if theirs may in fact hurt a lot of families dependent on the "...employees, clients and partners..." as noted above, not many publishers would be saddened by this development.

In the past, many blog and website publishers, including me, have severely criticized Adbrite for extremely low payouts. In some cases, these payouts have been extremely ridiculous when compared with website traffic.

Adbrite has always paraded itself as "...the largest independent ad exchange, reaching 300 million global unique visitors every month, including more than 150 million in the U.S."

To my reckoning, most bloggers would not notice the company's absence, and thus would most likely not miss it. Good riddance.

Adieu Adbrite!!!
