Using Videos to Bring Life to Your Blogposts

ENLIVEN YOUR POSTS WITH VIDEOS

Whether you've been in the blogging scene for years or you just recently started to take up the hobby, you know that in order to stay ahead of the competition, you have to increase your desirability to readers. Strategically using videos to enhance your content is one way to tackle that goal.

Visualizations

The videos don't necessarily need to depict a process; instead, you can hire a videographer to compile a stream of still images that add a sensory experience to the content on your blog. For example, let's say that you blog about healthy eating. A montage of different healthy choices next to their not-so-healthy counterparts, along with a breakdown of nutritional information, can have stronger impact on readers than simply listing the ingredients or why the food is based for them. They help your readers to better understand the concepts that you are trying to relay.

Before and After Images

You might also have a blog that teaches people the benefits of hard work. Maybe you write about beauty products and want to show a transformation after using certain type of foundation or mascara. Working with both a videographer and a model to compile before and after images is useful. You can use the video element to guide the viewer through (see an example video below). Explain what skin issues the model faced before and how the particular product helped to solve it.

The before and after image comparison type of video is quite helpful, and can be very handy. You can use the same video concept for home renovations, craft projects and educational endeavors.

Interviews with Happy Readers and Clients

When readers have the opportunity to be featured on your blog themselves, they'll likely express an even stronger interest in the videos. Whether you sell a product, offer a service or provide advice to people in certain scenarios, find out if any of the customers are interested in being videotaped while sharing their experience with your service (see example video below - used with permission).

These sort of videos serve a dual purpose. They help to get readers more engaged in the blog, but they also let people see that others have been satisfied with what you have to do. For blogs that are linked to a business, this tactic can help create profits.

How-To Processes

It's not uncommon to find a blog that is dedicated to craft projects, art for the children, home-remodeling endeavors and other such do-it-yourself activities. Simply listing the ways to make or build something can be confusing for a reader, especially if a lot of steps are involved. Many individuals benefit from having some sort of visual guide to the process. You can have a videographer film you going through the steps so that you can show the visitors to your site exactly what you are doing (see an example video of the interior remodeling of an apartment below). Such a strategy can help you to become an authority on the issue.

Videos for Recipes

Just as you want to show people exactly how to make a certain craft project, you also want to help them understand precisely how to craft a particular recipe. Videos really lend themselves to recipes because you might be using terms in the description that people who are unfamiliar to cooking don't understand. For example, if you say a dash of salt in the blog, individuals might not know what that means. However, if you have a video, you can show them how much salt to put in (see example video on making Chinese noodles below). The video can also include footage of real people actually eating the meal to entice viewers to try out the recipe for themselves.

Blogs have a strong presence in the 21st century, but now is the time to bring in even more elements that will continue to hold the attention of website guests.

  2. Hmm it appears your website ate my first comment (LOL...it was super long) so I guess I'll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I'm still new to the whole thing. Do you have any helpful hints for rookie blog writers? I'd definitely appreciate it. Thanks in advance :)
